Nuovo ristorante Porta Nuova e street food

Al Mercato Steaks & Burgers new opening

The “meat rock star” Eugenio Roncoroni opens the sign’s third restaurant and returns to his roots with an innovative street food proposal.

Milan, March 2022Al Mercato Steaks & Burgers, the historic Milanese meat brand, is opening its third restaurant, in one of the skyscrapers in the heart of the Porta Nuova – Gae Aulenti district, and is taking an extra step towards a new gastronomic offer for all tastes with the Al Mercato Street format, where the protagonist is street food in a gourmet key.

The new Al Mercato Steaks and Burgers restaurant opens in Milan and the new Street Food format is born

Where? Via della Liberazione, 15 in the Porta Nuova area. Chef Eugenio Roncoroni complements the successful Al Mercato Steaks & Burgers concept with a cuisine inspired by the famous American steakhouses but with some French contaminations. The very large, New York-style restaurant has very big windows that make the space spectacular, with an all-round view of the striking Porta Nuova skyline. The street food part of the restaurant is divided by a velvet curtain and is a real journey into street food with a roof covered in Chinese lanterns that catapults you into a typical Asian market. The cuisine ranges from American street food, northern and southern, Asian (Gyoza, ramen and teppanyaki) and vegan (Gyoza, ramen and teppanyaki) with really tasty and unique beyond meat proposals (Mediterranean chicken swekers, Mexican meat balls, spicy chicken nuggets).

We have succeeded in carrying forward two important values for Al Mercato, replicability and quality, enriching the Milanese gastronomic scene with a new place to be for meat lovers and not only – says Marcello Rizza, CEO of Al Mercato -. In addition to Al Mercato Steaks & Burgers, renewed in design and proposal, where you can taste Eugenio’s creations in a fine dining key, we have introduced the Al Mercato Street format. An absolute novelty for Milan that we hope to soon replicate in the city and beyond.

Al Mercato Steaks & Burgers: the menu

In this new restaurant, the style of the spaces has been renewed, but above all the menu. Meat maintains the starring role, but is accompanied by a rich selection of vegetarian dishes to please everyone. Starters, dishes from the history of Al Mercato, such as the Chicken Tandori Yakitori, the Tuna Tataki Cannolo, the Carne Salada and Pickles or the barbecued Octopus and Prawns in fish gazpacho, to continue with the great classics that embody the essence of Roncoroni’s cuisine: the famous Paté en Croute, the Foie Gras Torchon and the Roast Sweetbreads. The On Fire section includes a vegetarian selection – including the Baked Potatos, the Parmigiana ‘Al Mercato’ and the Fennel Variation – as well as the iconic selected meat dishes from the Sergio Motta Butcher’s shop, such as BBQ Ribs, Lamb Carré, Denver Steak, the new Skirt Steaks (Australian Wagyu diaframma with chimichurri sauce) and the Crispy Piglet. There are also Burgers, Sandwiches and Sides (Truffle Parm Fries, Onion Ring, Pickled Vegetables) and finally, there are the new desserts: Blueberry Pie, Key Lime Pie and Cream Ice Cream with Goat’s Milk.

Al Mercato Street gourmet street food in Milan

Al Mercato Street is an absolute novelty: a format within a format, which brings the concept of gourmet street food to the Milanese gastronomic scene. The chef’s experiences around the world are the inspiration for ‘street’ dishes under the banner of quality cuisine.

In a fascinating journey of taste, the Deli Burger, Chicken Burger and Hot Dog transport customers to North America. With Tacos in three versions, Burritos and the iconic Cuban Sandwich. The flavours of South America are explored. With Egg Ramen with soup (tonkatsu pork broth) or buckwheat broth, Gyoza, Stir-fried Brown Rice with soya bean sprouts and Chicken Yakitori you fly to Asia. There is also an entirely ‘veggie‘ section with dishes such as the Deli Burger Veg, Meatballs and Nuggets in their special vegetarian version, completing a sophisticated menu that combines the elegance of Al Mercato with street culture in an explosion of flavours.
