The Obicà Mozzarella Bar Group in Milan dedicates a new mixology concept to the world of mixology, with a special Drink List
New year and wind of novelties in the world of mixology bars in Milan and of cuisine with an international twist. In the heart of the famous and historic Brera district opens “Il Bar in Via Mercato” . It is the new concept bar dedicated to the world of mixology, whose name summarises the entire philosophy of the brand: an exclusive bar where you can experience a journey of discovery and tasting among original cocktails and gastronomic proposals in combination with innovative features.
Where you can find the other places of “Il Bar”
Already present in Milan, Palermo and Cagliari – in their respective Rinascente Food Halls – the bar, part of the Obicà Mozzarella Bar Group , opens its fourth location. It is the first street-facing – once again in Milan, in the city centre, Via Mercato, 28. A stylishly designed location, characterised by minimalist and contemporary furnishings, ready to welcome an international audience of mixologyenthusiasts.
In these 15 years of activity we have enjoyed great satisfaction, both in terms of sales and feedback from our customers. They have always appreciated the proposal of high-level cocktails combined with an appealing food offer, both as a drink pairing and as an informal lunch or dinner.
When, in 2022, we decided to relocate our historic Obicà in Via Mercato a few hundred metres away, to Via Cusani 1, it seemed the perfect opportunity to open a new Il Bar-branded place. We also didn’t want to give up a location of which we are all very fond of, because it is the group’s first Milanese one. We therefore worked at different levels to evolve the concept according to the specificities of the neighbourhood and the potential clientele, which we have known for almost twenty years.”
The Drink List
The jewel in the crown of the offer of ‘Il Bar in Via Mercato’ is the special drink list by Oscar Quagliarini – one of the best-known mixology professionals in Europe. He thus consolidates his collaboration with the Il Bar brand, which began in 2019. He counts in his career many international partnerships with the world of catering, hospitality and design.
“Grimorium” the cocktail list
The drink list created by Oscar Quagliarini, consists of 8 cocktails inspired by the world of green magic. A real book of spells that associates the powers of plants with a selection of drinks with evocative names such as:
Onniscienza – Absinthe, Cucumber Syrup Water, Green Cedar Bitter
Lacrima di Cielo – Gin infused with Butterfly Pea Flower, Tonic Water and Lavender
Profezia – Bulleit Rye Whiskey infused with Rock Crystal and Red Ginger, Ginger Beer, Lime and Thyme
Eclissi – Vodka, White Vermouth, Bergamot Bitter, Sfera Fumée and Black Sesame
Eight magic potions that, with a pinch of Gin, a drop of Vermouth and a touch of Vodka, transport the public into a universe of signature cocktails, essential in their recipes but of great impact in taste.
The beverage offer is enriched by the drink list with Classic Italian Cocktails, Champagne Cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails and spirits selected by Oscar Quagliarini, and an extensive list of Italian and French wines, Italian sparkling wines and Champagne, beers and drinks.
Two food menus to match the drink list
One menu for lunch and one for dinner – with dishes with an international flavour and prepared with quality raw materials, for a complete taste experience.
“The concept of Il Bar was born in 2007 on the terrace of Rinascente Milano,” says Davide di Lorenzo, CEO of the Obicà Group.
The a la carte menu designed for lunch presents a varied and tasty offer including Burgers and Sandwiches such as Club Sandwich and Bacon Cheeseburger, Salads such as Caesar Salad and Waldorf Salad, first and second courses such as Spaghettoni al Pomodoro con Caprino al Limone and Chicken Curry.
For the dinner menu, proposals have been devised for sharing in Tapas format, such as Gyoza di Verdure alla Piastra and Polenta Croccante allo Zafferano, and Taglieri, including the Sandwich Tasting, as well as first and second courses such as Tagliolini con Caviale Italiano and Sashimi Salad. A selection of desserts, including Apple Tarte Tatin with Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream, Salted Caramel Cheesecake with Maldon Salt and the timeless Tiramisù and Affogato al Caffè, completes the lunch and dinner offers.
Il Bar in Via Mercato is open Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to midnight. Closed on Mondays.
Founded in 2007, Il Bar is part of the Obicà Mozzarella Bar Group and is a concept created with the aim of bringing the best of mixology to exclusive locations in major Italian cities. The first place opened on the terrace of Rinascente Milano Piazza Duomo, was followed – in 2015 – by the one opened in Palermo and – in 2022 – by another in Cagliari, both in the Food Halls of Rinascente in the two cities. In January 2023, a fourth location opens in Via Mercato in Milan, in the heart of Brera. Il Bar’s proposal is characterised by essential cocktails with a contemporary twist and a food menu with an international flavour. Since 2019, the brand has been carrying on a collaboration with the well-known mixologist Oscar Quagliarini, who has created several signature drink lists such as ‘You’, ‘Emporium’, ‘T’, ‘T(h)ree of Life’ and ‘Grimorium’, presented in January 2023.
