Masu Masu restaurant and cocktail bar (Porta Genova)

The masu is a classic wooden box that in Japan was used to dose rice or other commonly used products, but masu is a word that also has a certain assonance with more.

This is the name given to the new izakaya-style restaurant opened in Tenoha‘s premises at Via Vigevano, 18.

The menu, created by chef Akinori Akiyama together with Teiji Nakamura, offers creative dishes prepared with traditional Japanese cooking techniques such as sushi and teppanyaki.

At the bar, sake and cocktails with an oriental twist can be tasted.

Polpo Semplicemente pesce (Porta Venezia)

We are in via Melzo, in the Porta Venezia area, Polpo is the new restaurant opened by chef Viviana Varese in collaboration with Ritu Dalmia in the same premises where Spica had been since 2019. Where there was Spica, there is now Polpo! The format is that of a cocktail bar trattoria that focuses on quality fish cuisine. At the bar you can enjoy a classic aperitif, while sitting at the trattoria tables you can enjoy a menu with delicious seafood, tapas and seasonal vegetables.

Silvano wine and food at the counter (Nolo)

Cesare Battisti has taken a liking to it, and after the opening of Pastificio Ratanà last year, he opens Silvano, a retro-style osteria in Piazza Morbegno, with perfect dishes para compartir sitting at the counter (a good 14 metres long!).

In the kitchen Vladimiro Poma, his faithful ally in previous years, prepares everything in the oven, no cooker!

Then there is the selection of cheeses and cured meats, the pinzimonio, old-fashioned flavours such as bread and butter or bread and ragù or maybe a classic lasagna.

Most expensive dish? A crudo of wild fish at 18 euros. In short, prices for eating without taking out a loan.

Everything to be combined with a wine list from producers who prefer natural processing methods and the chef’s revisiting of Negroni, lighter and with a secret ingredient!

Sogni Restaurant (De Amicis- Sant’Agostino)

Opened in September in Via San Calocero, 8 , De Amicis- Sant’Agostino area, Sogni, the restaurant of entrepreneur Claudio Antonioli is among the glamorous new autumn openings!

The location inside is spread over 500 square metres in a former kindergarten from the end of the 19th century, and is subdivided as follows: a waiting room with large sofas and a cocktail bar part, a ‘refectory’ characterised by a long social table, and the ‘gallery’ consisting of smaller tables along a corridor.

There is also a large outdoor area for a scenic dinner or lunch surrounded by plants in the garden, the jardin d’Hiver. The menù is based on fish and seasonal vegetables!

Starters include raw seafood such as the Plateau Royal and the main courses include a daily catch of the day. You can also enjoy an aperitif in the cocktail bar area with a glass of wine, champagne or choose from the list of signature cocktails Sogni.

Via Stampa the Neighbourhood Bistro (Cinque Vie)

A neighbourhood bistro between classic and contemporary. An ode to micro-seasonality.

A place to get together and be well. These are just some of the definitions you can read on the official social channels of Via Stampa.This is both the name of Marco Guzzetti‘s restaurant and of the street where it has opened in the Colonne Cinque Vie area.

Inside, the décor is minimal: parquet, wooden tables and chairs, white walls. There is a nice separation of spaces to be able to lunch and dine a bit more intimately. The menu has traditional Lombard dishes with a price in line with the prestige of the place and the area, a must try!

New autumn 2023 menus and events

Daniel Canzian restaurant – under 40 menu

Chef Daniel Canzian returns to his restaurant in Via Castelfidardo, Porta Nuova area, to offer Giovani forchette, a selection of five courses dedicated to the under 40s. The menu is not fixed, but changes according to the availability of seasonal ingredients. Among the specialities on offer are some of the dishes that have become iconic over time, including lemon risotto with roast sauce and liquorice, and the chocolate sphere.

The menu is only available from Tuesday to Thursday for dinner, costs 50 euro and can only be ordered at the chef’s table, so as well as tasting you can also watch the dishes being created!

The new Armani/Ristorante Milano menu: 3 menus for all tastes

The new menu at Armani/Ristorante, on the seventh floor of the hotel in Via Manzoni, 31 welcomes autumn with warm and enveloping flavours to stay in theme. Signed by Executive Chef Francesco Mascheroni, the menu embraces the riches of the territory, suggestions from Lombardy and beyond, and then pushes the boundaries without innovation and contemporaneity.

The three proposed tasting menus are Present, My Vegetable Cuisine and Tradition in Evolution. Tasting Menu Present, the mastery of seafood combined with land in 6 dishes. Such as:

  • Duck foie gras in terrine, smoked eel, green apple, dill, Bronte pistachio, here balance between sweet and salty, the softness of foie gras and the complexity of eel.
  • The Tajarin di pasta fresca, sea urchin, caviar Tradition the fresh egg pasta noodle, with sea urchin and lobster sauce, completed with caviar.

My vegetable cuisine, a menu connected with the earth, with intense aromas, expressed in 5 delicious dishes, including:

  • Green coconut velouté, broccoli and barbecued bok choy, soy shiitake, and lime cashew nuts, a lively and crunchy dish with a subtle hint of tropical sweetness.
  • The Roasted Celeriac, Ravioli, Vegetable Extract, Crunchy Crumbs is a symphony of textures and flavours, all derived from the skilful treatment of celeriac in different ways.

The menu Tradition in Evolution, a menu that celebrates gastronomic traditions with a modern perspective. Fish and meat are the protagonists of the 5-course meal, including:

  • Slice of Sea Bass, Cardoncelli Ragù, Amalfi Lemon Jam, Caper Leaves in Grenoblese Sauce, the fish cooked in butter is enhanced by the cardoncelli ragù, contrasting with the acidity and freshness of the lemon jam
  • Spaghettone di Gragnano Gentile, datterino giallo, parmigiano reggiano 90 months ‘Gennari’, a dish that celebrates Italian cuisine in its authenticity and simplicity

At Circolino in Monza se habla español

Double date with the Hispanic-American culinary tradition at Circolino in Monza!

Every Tuesday dedicated to Mexican street food and mixology, it’s Taco, Tequila, Tuesday: Taco del dìa and a drink of your choice between Rio Salado, made with Mezcal, mango, lime and spicy corn crusta, or Santa Cruz, consisting of Tequila, lime, grapefruit and pink spicy soda (12 euros)

And on Sunday 22 October from Mexico we fly to Spain!

Instead of the usual brunch, a special menu will be served consisting of appetisers ‘para compartir’, including Boquerones marinados con aceitunas rellena and Pan de Cristal con Jamon Iberico, followed by Paella del Senyoret (originated in the Alicante area, it is a fish and seafood paella) all accompanied by fresh Sangria de Cava.

The lunch, offered at a cost of 55 euros, will end with Flan de Huevo dessert.

21 House of Stories

Following the success of the opening in Città Studi, the Benetton brothers’ hybrid hospitality project that combines the structure of a classic hotel with coworking spaces and events, 21 House of Stories also opens on the Navigli.

On the terrace with a swimming pool on the 7th floor, a cocktail bar with the drink list designed by Franco Ponti, a veteran of mixology in Milan, could not be missing. Among the drinks on offer is the gin-based ‘Sale a Milano‘, with orange cordial, tabasco and salt.
