Sansiro Racecourse Open doors: racing, events, wine and street food

On the occasion of the Jockey Club Grand Prix, not only the most eagerly awaited races of the season, on Sunday 16 October the Snai San Siro Milan Racecourse offers a special day with a programme of activities for everyone, but also for families and children as well as parents and horse enthusiasts.

For all visitors, there is an interesting itinerary with the #scoprisansiro tour, which allows you to take an independent tour inside the racecourse, during which you can admire the 72 species of plants and shrubs, with indication of name and origin, the Leonardo Horse, not everyone knows that it is one of the largest equestrian statues in the world, and the beauty of the Palazzina del Peso and the façade of the Main Grandstand, true examples of the Art Nouveau style of 1920, the year in which the San Siro racecourse was inaugurated.

Milano Wine Week Closing event with Vinodalproduttore.it

At the same time, the opening Sunday of the Racecourse and the Jockey Club race close the Milano Wine Week,  which began on 8 October. For the occasion, Vinodalproduttore.it  will be present at the entrance of the park in front of the grandstands: in the kiosk set up for the occasion, samples and bottles to taste from the Wineries:

 Canoso – Soave Canoso Vini is one of the wine producers with the longest tradition in the Veneto region. Located about 30 km east of Verona, in one of the most densely populated wine-growing areas in the world, 7 hectares of hilly vineyards within the Soave Classico zone, 2 of which are identified with the Boschetti and Cà del Vento crus. The volcanic origin of the Soave Classico soils gives life to savoury, mineral and elegant white wines made from Garganega the indigenous grape variety of this area, Trebbiano di Soave and Manzoni Bianco.

Antonelli San MarcoUmbria Winery in Montefalco, in the province of Perugia. Its origins date back to the Longobard era when the area was already known as one of the most dedicated to the cultivation of vines and olives. In 1979, the first wine bottling activity took place. Today, the company, still owned by the Antonelli family, produces high quality organic wines, respecting nature and the surrounding environment.

In addition to the bar and restaurant always present in the building, there will be for the occasion Apulian street food with panzerotti filanti by Panzo.

Around the racecourse, on the other hand, you will come across street performers, one on stilts to entertain children with games and sweets and giant soap bubbles. Instead, Sgrunch, a ghost-catching puppet is present on board his little car to try to recruit new ‘ghost-catchers’ to prepare for the eagerly awaited Halloween.

And then the evergreen of parties, the Halloween-themed backdrop equipped with holes for taking souvenir photos. Admission is € 3 for a single ticket and € 5 for families, while for minors and certified disabled persons with an accompanying person, admission is free. There will be many activities dedicated to children and families, in an autumn and Halloween themed context: from “Saddle Baptism” by riding ponies, dedicated to children from 3 to 13 years old, to the big inflatables ramps and street artists’ activities. There will also be a many creative activities, organised by the Francesca Rava Foundation, in the fenced and covered paddock area, including workshops to learn how to make a Halloween pumpkin or a botanical workshop to teach how to make seedlings sprout.
