Sezamo online food shop at “Real Km” arrives arrives in Italy in Milan and Monza: the new sustainable food e-commerce service is the first to offer 3-hour delivery with 15-minute windows in the entire city of Milan

Sezamo, supermarket and farmstead together, online: the company tests its business model also in Italy with a new platform active in Milan, Monza and over 100 neighbouring municipalities. The service is currently in a test phase to learn more about the territory, the market and its potentials in view of possible future developments.

Sezamo is part of the Rohlik Group, Europe’s leading online food retailer and also active in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Sezamo Italia is the second largest market after Germany. On the strength of the recent EUR 220 million financing round, the Rohlik Group is testing a new opening in Italy where it has assembled a team currently consisting of more than 80 people. The company’s goal is to meet the needs of consumers in the complete shopping experience with an assortment of more than 7,000 food and non-food items.

How Sezamo’s online shopping really works

Promoting the Eat well, live well philosophy, eating well to lead a happier and healthier life, Sezamo’s mission is the well-being of its customers, to whom it also guarantees time savings that they can devote to themselves and their passions. All this is possible thanks to a service that differs from the competition: delivery in 3 hours and the possibility of choosing the preferred time slot with windows of one hour and, in selected municipalities, even 15 minutes. The service operates 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and offers the possibility of full shopping from a minimum order of €29 and with free delivery for trolleys from €89. Sezamo the supply from the supermarket to the farmsteads

Sezamo can be defined as a meeting point between the supermarket and the farmstead, where you can find the products of the big brands side by side with a vast assortment of local, regional and artisanal specialities, as well as numerous goodies from local farms: from the land to the table. Artisanal products from pastry shops, ice-cream parlours and bakeries in the Milan area alongside a wide selection of freshly sliced cold cuts at the counter. The assortment now numbers over 7,000 products, with the prospect of future expansion also thanks to the collection of suggestions and advice from customers active every day.

The supply base, i.e. the largest part, is represented by the local excellences and specialities of the various Italian regions. Locked prices for Sezamo customer

Sezamo is actively working against rising costs. Aware of the impact of rising prices on everyone’s lives, the company has decided to freeze the price of some of its most purchased products, promising not to increase it by even one cent until Easter 2023. The locked-in prices will be guaranteed on a selection of items ranging from yoghurt, pasta, tuna and tomato puree to liquid soap, biscuits and mozzarella. Attention to sustainability is a true story

The fleet will be progressively implemented over the coming months to cope with the growth of the project. But that’s not all: the products are always delivered in bags with recycled paper, to minimise the use of plastic as much as possible, or in recyclable and reusable bags. The innovative reusable bag service allows members to receive their shopping in practical, environmentally friendly bags, which are sanitised after each use and can be used up to 25 times.

The commitment against food waste

Sezamo is also committed every day to the fight against food waste, for example through the ‘Save Food’ section of the website, where the user can find a selection of products close to expiry but still good, to buy at reduced prices. A two-fold activity, which allows customers to save money on their shopping and actively contribute to the fight against food waste.
