Restaurants cocktail bar: what’s new in Milan!

New year, new venue! Milan innovates and renovates itself year by year…. month by month especially in the restaurants anche cocktail bar trends and new openings. More and more chefs are aspiring to open a restaurant in the city that has become a popular destination for international tourism and a reference point for food and beverage trends!

In the last years Milan has become the city with the highest density of restaurants in Italy, over 9 thousand*, ahead of Florence and Naples. This is how the vast offer leads to greater competitiveness in the sector and to raising the bar ever higher. This is how new establishments focus on the quality of the raw materials, the originality and variety of the menu, as well as comfortable and design places. From Trattoria del Ciumbia to Varrone pizzeria, passing by Rumore, here is a selection of the new cuisine and beverage proposals in Milan for this beginning of 2024.

New restaurant openings in winter 2024

Trattoria del Ciumbia – Sèm Chi

Milanese cuisine finds its rebirth in the city centre, in Brera. This is where Trattoria del Ciumbia was born in December. (Ciumbia is the typical Milanese exclamation meaning “Ma dai”, ‘Accipicchia’) the Trattoria In Via Fiori Chiari 32, a place that is already a cult in so many ways.

From the location with 100 seats and a private club space for music and private parties, to the concept inspired by the traditional Milanese osteria, revisited in a contemporary key (prices are therefore not exactly popular, but gastronomic quality is assured).

The menu proposal has been studied by the executive chef Paolo Rollini, interpreting Milanese and Lombard cuisine in the light of modern times. Among the dishes on the menu are risotto alla monzese, rib eye on the bone, tripe and, the most sought-after, stewed Valtellina snails.

Casa Tobago – Ex Plastic

In the spaces next to the former Plastic, has been created a restaurant-cocktail bar that looks more like a club for English lords: it is called Casa Tobago. Behind this new project are Alessandro Cesario and Christian Brigliadoro, formerly The Doping bar at the Aethos hotel.

On the menu, grill meat options such as skewers and barbecued meats for all tastes are the protagonists. Drinks include an important selection of wines and spirits.

In addition to English prints and fabrics, another special feature of the restaurant are the two open kitchens: a larger one surrounded by a marble counter and a smaller one where the pizza and focaccia oven is located.

Max Mariola – Via San Marco

After the success of the Casa Mariola youtube channel, Max Mariola returns to the cooker directly from Rome. in his new restaurant in the Moscova area of Milan

The menu features traditional Roman dishes with a dash of innovation. Crispy white pizzas among the starters, an amatriciana with salt cod and among the main courses the pannicolo, a poor but tasty cut of meat.

The ambience is modern and the atmosphere cheerful: wood, plants and background music. Beware though, the price is not that of a Roman trattoria. 😜

Quintalino – Sant’Ambrogio

Dario Cecchini with Francesco Panella and Alessandro Cattelan, business partners for the occasion, opened Quintalino near Corso Magenta last November.

The format is fast quality food, i.e. reasonably priced fast food but with quality products. Meat supplied by the Tuscan butcher, Pretzel bun bread by Antonio Follador to create four irresistible burgers sandwiches.

A place for a few intimates, but the concept is street food. Also try the toasts, they seem to be exceptional!
